Welcome to Queenstown Athletics

Queenstown Athletic Club has been operating in the Wakatipu region for over 30 years and aims to provide our Members a community in which to enjoy participation and achievement in Harriers and Athletics.

Queenstown Athletic Club has an active Social Junior Athletics Club (Remarkable Runners) for athletes from 5 to 14 years. Coaching and training is given in a wide variety of athletic disciplines using a fun skills programme developed by Athletics NZ. There is also the opportunity for our more competitive juniors to attend events hosted in either Southland or Otago. Because of our geographical position we can choose which district to compete in. If your child is interested in competitive athletics, please contact our club secretary for more information.

JUNIOR ATHLETICS – For Primary School children – aged 5 to 14 yrs

Years 3 – 8: This year we will be combining our Arrowtown and Frankton Club training sessions. These will now take place at The Events Centre every Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm during term 4 and term 1 of next year.

Years 1 and 2 is still to be confirmed.

The focus is to introduce a range of disciplines in a fun learning environment, recording times and distances and improving overall athletic skills. We rely heavily on parents to help run these junior sessions. 2020/21 Registrations for juniors will open again in October 2020. More information under the Junior Athletics tab.

Our new athletic season for Juniors (7-14) starts again in term 4. Join us at an Open Day to try it out for free to see if you'd like to join our club. Two venues, two dates: Queenstown Event Centre on Thursday 17 Oct (starting 4.30 - 6pm) or at Arrowtown School on Friday 18 Oct (starting 4 - 5.30pm). Parent help will be most appreciated for these sessions. We will give you a quick intro on how the club works, what a "social" and "competitive" member is and what competitive members can look forward to. Then we'll get stuck into some training and fun athletic skill games. Dress appropriately for running and jumping (no skirts or jeans). For cancellation in the event of bad weather, please visit our Facebook page by 2.30pm. No notice on Facebook means the sessions still go ahead.
