Welcome to Queenstown Athletics

Queenstown Athletic Club has been operating in the Wakatipu region for over 30 years and aims to provide our Members a community in which to enjoy participation and achievement in Harriers and Track & Field Athletics.

Queenstown Athletic Club has an active Social Junior Club (Remarkable Runners) for athletes from 5 to 14 years. Coaching and training is given in a wide variety of athletic disciplines using a fun skills programme developed by Athletics NZ. There is also the opportunity for our more competitive juniors to attend events hosted in either Southland or Otago. Because of our geographical position we can choose which district to compete in. If your child is interested in competitive athletics, please contact our club secretary for more information.

JUNIOR ATHLETICS – For Primary School children – aged 5 to 14 yrs

Years 1 – 2: Fun sessions for the years 1 and 2s will take place at Arrowtown Primary School on Friday afternoons from 3.30 pm – 4.15 pm. These sessions are open to all children in year 1 or 2 who live in the Queenstown basin.

Years 3 – 8: Club training sessions take place at the Queenstown Events Centre every Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm during term 4 and term 1 of the following year.

The focus is to introduce a range of disciplines in a fun learning environment, recording times and distances and improving overall track and field skills. We rely heavily on parents to help run these junior sessions. Registrations for juniors open in October every year. For more information about juniors, club members and competitive, look under the Junior Athletics tab.

QUEENSTOWN HARRIERS SQUAD – For Secondary School athletes – aged 13 to 18 yrs and Open categories.

We train all year round and generally compete in Southland and Nationally (although if preferred one can compete in Otago). Please register using the link on Harriers Page. This link affiliates us with Southland. If you’d prefer to compete in Otago, please contact us.
